What makes a good backup
A useful backup is automatic. If it depends on your memory, it will end up being forgotten, often at the worst moment. The rule is simple: you should not have to do anything for it to run.
It must also exist in several places. The so-called 3-2-1 method is a benchmark: three copies of your data, on two different types of storage, one of which is off-site. That way, a breakdown, theft, fire or virus is much less likely to destroy everything at once.
The most common trap: a backup that has never been tested. Many people discover on the day of the breakdown that the copy is incomplete or unreadable. That is why every plan includes a real restore test.
Ask yourself three questions. Which files would be impossible to recreate? How many days of work can you lose without harm? How quickly do you need to be up and running again? The answers set the frequency and organisation of your backup.
Finally, if your backups contain customer data, they remain subject to the GDPR: limited access, password protection or encryption, and a reasonable retention period.

What does the 3-2-1 method mean?
Three copies of your data, on two different types of storage, one of which is off-site. It is a widely recognised common-sense rule to avoid a single incident destroying all your copies. It is included in the Pro and Premium plans.
Do I need to buy equipment?
It depends on your situation. Sometimes an external drive or online storage space is enough. Before we start, we tell you what is useful, without selling you anything extra.
Can you see my files?
We work remotely with your consent and only for the setup. We don't need to open your documents, and we keep no access once the work is finished, unless you ask us to.
Will my computer slow down?
The backup is set to run at a time when you are not working, or lightly in the background. After the first full copy, only the changes are sent.
What happens if the backup fails?
With the Pro and Premium plans, an alert notifies you if it fails. You know what to do thanks to the written plan, and the Premium plan adds a full procedure in case of loss.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, a phone can count as a device if it holds work files. Tell us which devices you use and we will recommend the right plan.
