E-invoicing in the EU

E-invoicing: be ready without losing your evenings.

EU countries are making e-invoicing mandatory one by one, and EU rules extend it to cross-border B2B sales from 1 July 2030. We connect your tools to the platform or system your country requires, and your invoices flow on their own.

Mandatory in more EU countries every year

A change to the way you invoice

Between businesses, paper invoices and PDFs by email are giving way to structured e-invoices, sent through a platform or government system.

The timeline

Set country by country: Belgium since January 2026, Germany by 2028. EU-wide for cross-border B2B sales from 1 July 2030.

Choosing the platform

Depending on your country, you use a national system or pick a provider among many.

Double entry

Without a link between your tools and the platform, every invoice is retyped by hand.

New data

In some countries, sales to consumers and transactions abroad must also be reported.

Worked example

60 invoices a month is time that adds up.

  • Invoices received and issued per month60
  • Entry and filing time5 min
  • Months per year12

Per year60 h

≈ 5 ha month of entry and filing
≈ 60 ha year
Far lessretyping once the flows are connected

Properly connected, e-invoicing can be the chance to remove a large part of your data entry.

Illustrative example. Actual time depends on your invoice volume and your tools.

FAQ

Your questions about e-invoicing

E-invoicing: who is affected?

It depends on your country. Where e-invoicing is mandatory, it usually covers VAT-registered businesses for invoices between businesses, often starting with receiving before issuing. Belgium has required it since 1 January 2026, Poland since 2026, France since 1 September 2026 for receiving. Check your country's rules with your tax authority or your accountant.

When do I have to issue e-invoices?

Each country sets its own dates. Examples: in Germany, all businesses must be able to receive e-invoices since 2025, and issuing becomes compulsory in 2027 or 2028 depending on turnover. In France, small businesses must issue them by 1 September 2027. For cross-border B2B sales in the EU, the date is 1 July 2030. You can start earlier.

Is a PDF invoice sent by email an e-invoice?

Generally not. In countries with a mandate, an e-invoice is issued, sent and received in a structured format that a machine can read, often through a platform or government system. A simple PDF sent by email is often no longer enough for the invoices concerned.

What is an e-invoicing platform?

It is the provider or government system that carries e-invoices and, in some countries, the data sent to the tax authority. Depending on the country, you use a national system or choose one or more accredited providers. We are not a platform: we connect your tools to the platform or system you use.

What is e-reporting?

It means sending the tax authority data on transactions not covered by a domestic B2B e-invoice, such as sales to consumers or international sales. Some countries already require it, others are adding it. At EU level, digital reporting for cross-border B2B sales starts on 1 July 2030.

Is my current invoicing software enough?

Not necessarily. It must be able to produce an invoice in the right format and connect to your e-invoicing platform. We review this with you, and we only suggest changing a tool if it really gets in the way.

How much does compliance setup cost?

Our compliance setup starts at €390, paid once: audit, help choosing the platform, connection and automated flows. Any platform subscription remains your cost, with the provider you choose.
